17-Mar-2025 : Sewing Challenge 2025 - 3 More Dresses for Batch #2

Here are 3 more dresses for Batch #2 bringing my total to 5 for Batch 2. The last of the green dress from a fabric bolt donated to my cause about 5 years ago. Nothing has been wasted and from this bolt I must have sewn about 70 dresses or perhaps more. With these 3 dresses, my overall total is 13/100.

These dresses have been added to my FY25 Sewing Challenge Album. You can check the album by clicking on the image above or click on the link below.

These dresses have been added to my FY25 Sewing Challenge Album. You can check the album by clicking on the image above or click on the link below.

27-Feb-2025 : Sewing Challenge 2025 - 100 dresses in 100 days

It has been awhile since I did a sewing challenge. This year I am challenging myself to 100 dresses in 100 days. I joined a challenge called The 100 Day Project which started last Sunday(23-Feb-2025) and ends on the 2nd of Jun. I thought this was a very good opportunity for me to do 100 dresses as well although my main project is actually drawing 100 houses in 100 days. It does not take me long to sew one dress so I added this in as a personal challenge on the side. That would mean i draw one house and sew one dress everyday if possible for the next 100 days and let me not forget that starting this Saturday, 1st of March is the start day of my commitment to walk 150kms for kids with cancer. I have the whole month of March to do the 150kms but since I already walk everyday I do not see this as a problem unless it will be too hot during the day or it rains. I did the Camino de Santiago in 2023 and walked 155kms in 8 days.

At the moment, I am not thinking and/or planning distributions. I just want to sew 100 dresses in 100 days. One dress, one plan at a time.

So far, I have drawn 6/100 houses since I started last Sunday and have sewn 5/100 dresses. I just need to re-organize my time, what my priorities are during the day. I will not be showing any of my drawings here but see below the five dresses I have done so far.

I think I have 3-5 more cuts of the same fabric and the bolt is done.
I created an album so I can keep track of my sewing. I will only be posting what I have completed every week but if anyone is interested to check it out, please click here.

Sewing in the new year 2025

Before anything else, happy new year! I hope the first two weeks of 2025 have been amazing for everyone and here's to a fantastic year ahead!

Looks like my mojo for sewing is back and hopefully for the rest of the year. And here is my first handmade for the year - a pair of shorts.

With the cost of living going up everytime I look out the window, it is very difficult to make a commitment to continue providing handmade clothes to disadvantaged children. Last year I did not make any distributions at all due to financial constraints. But I would love to do it again this year, perhaps twice or at least once as my contribution to the Holy Year celebration  and give hope to disadvantaged children. In case one is not aware, the Pope has declared 2025 as a Jubilee year with a theme of hope and one of the ways one can make a contribution is a work of mercy. Perform a corporal work of mercy such as feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick. Providing handmade dresses to disadvantaged children is a good example of a work of mercy which I hope I can do this year of Jubilee. Have quite a few dresses I made last year waiting to be distributed and with my sewing mojo back I think I will have or can have more dresses to give and become a pilgrim of hope this year.
