Another 'thank you' for the quilts from Romania

Tonight I received another 'thank you' email from Lavinia of the Romanian relief organization for the 2 parcels of quilts I sent to them in September this year. Sharing with everyone this note from Lavinia especially to those who donated the quilts -
I hope the donors are happy of this feedback the same way I feel so happy that the quilts have arrived safely. Thank you once again.

Feedback on quilts sent to Romania

This was the biggest surprise this morning which made my day. I never expected to receive pictures of Romanian kiddies with some of the quilts I sent from the first parcel I think. Here are a few of the kiddies and the quilts -
Monica Tabarac of Humanitas Charity said that the pictures shows how much the blankets I sent were very well appreciated and sends her thanks for the support. Thank you to all the donors who made these wonderful gifts to the children of Romania possible.

Five more quilts ! Quilts #101 to #105 on my list from Vera Geffs, Lorraine Sandow and Gaynor Botcher of the Ladies of Kapunda Sewing Group/Craft and Hope Group of Kapunda S.A. These ladies reminds me of the book 'When Quilters Gather', how quilters gather to work and play and show their passion of who they are and what they do through their quilts. What very lucky children and grandmas they are who get to receive your works of art. Can't help comparing these ladies to this book. :-)

100 Days of Quilting is over

Today is the last day of the '100 Days of Quilting' charity drive and as of today I have received 78 quilts and more to come in the next few weeks as donors start to mail them to Sydney. Twenty of these quilts have already been sent to Romania and more to follow.

The result of this charity drive is more than I expected and I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the donors who have supported this campaign. My heartfelt thank you as well to Margie Burke for the time and effort she donated in the Quilt-a-long with Margie. I hope everyone had fun and enjoyed the experience of learning how to make quilts especially to the newbies.

For those who still want to learn how to make a quilt, the quilt-a-long with Margie is still available for everyone to access. Just click on the 'Quilt-a-Long with Margie Burke' tab which you will find at the top of this page or click here.

To see images of the quilts received so far, please click here. This album will get updated whenever quilts are received.

Thank you so much.

Quilt #78 from Margie Burke

Quilt Number 78 is from Margie Burke, the gracious lady who donated her time and effort to head a 'Quilt-a-long with Margie Burke'.
To Margie, thank you so much for everything. Thank you for the time and effort you spent on the quilt-a-long. Am sure it was such a great learning experience for everyone. Thank you.

Quilt #77 from Sue-Ellen

In addition to the thongs was this piece of quilt from Sue-Ellen Cox for the children of Romania to keep them warm this winter bringing my total quilts received to 77.  A very impressive result for only 100 days of charity drive.

Quilt #76 from Wendy Yates

Number 76 on the list and the first quilt received which was made during the Quilt-A-Long with Margie Burke from Wendy Yates. Wish I could get a picture of the whole quilt but I almost fell from a chair in my attempt to do it in one of the earlier quilts I received so am not going to attempt again. Here is an image of at least a quarter of the quilt -
Also in the parcel that I received today were 3 pairs of leggings which could be worn under the smaller sized dresses as tops.
To Wendy, thank you so much for your thoughtfulness, kindness and generosity. You sure do make this world a better place. Thanks a whole lot!

Quilts #74 and #75 - From Susan Reid

"100 Days of Quilting" still on fire with Quilt Numbers 74 and 75 from Susan Reid of Tasmania. How lucky 2 kids will be when they get to receive these quilts which were initially meant for the Tasmanian bushfire victims but by the time Susan received them the quilt drive had more than they needed. She has been holding on to the quilts waiting for the right time and opportunity to pass them on and the "100 Days of Quilting" charity drive is now the lucky recipient of these 2 lucky quilts and here they are -
To Susan, thank you so much for the quilts. It is much appreciated. It is always nice to know that there is someone out there who is quietly applauding what Dress A Girl Australia is achieving. Makes everything I do so easy and worthwhile. Thank you so much and I look forward to hearing from you again sometime next year.

Quilts #63 to 68 - From Linda Smyth

Day 82 and another drop-off of 6 quilts by this lady from Revesby. Only another charity work that she volunteers to and which is going in full swing at this time due to the Christmas season is going to stop her from dropping off items at my place so she is taking a rest from sewing for Dress A Girl (Around the World) Australia but finished off these 6 quilts first.
To Linda, thank you so much for these lovely quilts. I wish we could see the kids who gets to comfort themselves with these quilts and sleep warmly with joy in their cold winter season. But am sure just the thought of it makes us all feel so much joy in our hearts that we are able to make a difference to the lives of these children thus make this cause so worthwhile. Thank you so much for all the help and support you have provided this year. It is so much appreciated and I hope you enjoy every minute you spend with the other charity work (Operation Christmas Child) you do the same way you enjoyed sewing for Dress A Girl (Around the World) Australia. Thank you so much.
