Dress Distribution #68 - For the streetkids of Metro Manila Phils c-o Childhope Asia Phils

For the streetkids of Metro Manila Phils is Dress Distribution #65. A combination of 118 dresses, 63 pairs of shorts and 33 t-shirts, these 3 parcel distribution is going to be sent to Maribel Flores-Larracochea, Asst. Executive Director and Resource Mobilization Coordinator for Childhope Asia Philippines, a non-profit, non-government organization working to promote the welfare of street children in the Philippines and the Asia region and also works toward the liberation of the child from the suffering caused by working and living on the street. I hope to provide more support to this organization in the near future as I like the idea of their Alternative Learning System (ALS) Program facilitated by their Street Educators for the street kids.

This is Dress Distribution #64 for the children of the Rizal Laguna Phils community to be distributed by Norie Bordador and her group when they get back from the Aparri Cagayan distribution.  This is a 3-parcel of 161 dresses, 54 pairs of shorts, 14 boys t-shirts and 2 girls t-shirts, 25 girls undies and 24 boys undies and includes 14 boys matching shirt/shorts sets and 4 girls matching shirt/shorts sets.

2013 Christmas Dress Distribution #43A and #43B totally accounted for

Finally I can published the donors of the dresses, pairs of shorts, t-shirts and other accessories that were distributed last Christmas 2013 as part of the Dress A Girl Australia Christmas Bags for the children of CDO Philippines. The 9 parcels sent was a combination of Christmas bags for the children of the community of Opol and gifts to the students of Lourdes College adopted community. The christmas bags(7 parcels) had 150 dresses, 50 pairs of shorts for boys, 50 t-shirts to match with the pairs of shorts, hairties, christmas bags, toys and other accessories. The other 2 parcels for the adopted community had 63 dresses, 20 boys shorts and other clothing accessories, books and school supplies. All of the contents of the 9 parcels had already been distributed and feedback with pictures received but could not identify the donors as the packing was hurriedly done (in 2 days) and had to be sent quickly to make it for Christmas distribution.

Dress Distribution #65 - For the children of Eastern Samar Phils (c-o Guiuan Development Foundation)

Some of the dresses on these parcels have been saved for months until such time that the recipient in Eastern Samar Phils is ready to make a distribution to the community whose members were victims of the devastating Typhoon Haiyan. Dress Distribution #65 is a 3-parcel of 207 dresses(9 matching sets), 10 boys and girls shirts, 31 shorts, 4 mens hats, 72 girls(37x) and boys(35x) undies and 17 men's tshirts and will be sent to Professor Margarita dela Cruz who is the founder and head of the Guiuan Development Foundation. This foundation is a non-profit NGO based in Eastern Samar, well known for it's Coastal Based Resource Management Programs and other Marine and Environmental preservation activities. This is the same foundation that was the recipient of a very small amount of money I raised from family and friends right after the typhoon happened and was used to purchase fishing nets for a few fisherfolk of the community of Guiuan in order to help them slowly rebuild their lives. If I have the money I probably would buy a few bancas to give to them for their fishing activities. A 'banca' is a very small boat they can ride when fishing in the open sea. This is Dress Distribution #63B for the children of Batu Enrile Cagayan Valley in the Philippines. These parcels were re-routed from Rizal to Aparri . This way, the group who will be distributing the dresses will only travel once to Aparri and make the distribution in both locations on the same trip. Dress Distribution No 63A are 3 parcels of  200 dresses, 4 matching tops and pairs of shorts and 54 pairs of boys shorts to be sent to Norie Bordador of Manila. Norie and her group will be travelling to Aparri, Cagayan Valley which is about 550  kms away from Metro Manila when the parcels are delivered to them. Dress Distribution #57 - For the children of the hinterland areas of CDO Philippines

This distribution is for the disadvantaged children of the hinterland areas of Cagayan de Oro, Philippines which is about an hour and 40 minutes by plane from Manila, 3 days and 2 nights by boat or a week by bus. The 150 dresses, 5 sets of t-shirts and shorts and 9 pairs of shorts will be hand delivered to the needy kids by Dr Sha Paglinawan who goes to these hinterland areas as part of her job as a doctor/medical officer of the city of CDO local government.

I think distributing is probably quite difficult if you are dealing with the younger kids. Your concentration is divided between handing out dresses and making sure they are the right sizes and whether you are able to take pictures at the same time. This picture was probably taken after everything has been given away. At least she was able to gather at least a few of the kids for a pose. :-)

A matching set for 2 bound for Eastern Samar

Well, you did read about my being a t-shirt hoarder. In early April I received 2 skirt donations. I was thinking of allocating the 2 skirts for a parcel I am filling up for the Eastern Samar community in the Philippines but was not really happy with the idea of just sending the skirts. The clothing in the parcels are going to be distributed to the children victims of the Typhoon Haiyan that hit the community last year and the last thing I wanted was for them to spend to buy matching shirts so they could wear the skirts so it was either I hold on to the skirts and wait for a future allocation someplace else or find matching t-shirts. I was not sure if I still had some small t-shirts left as I know most of the small ones I have already given away. Luckily I found 2 but with long-sleeves - so here they are - the last from my t-shirt hoard collection

 and now I am happy again to include the skirts in the parcel allocation -

for 2 lucky little girl recipients in the community of Eastern Samar Philippines. And I think this is what makes Dress A Girl Australia different from others. I always think and care about the things I give, the items that I put in a parcel and also think and care of the kids who will become the owners of the things I give away making sure that they are able to wear and enjoy wearing their new dresses for as long as they can....time, money and effort very well spent. 

Feedback on Dress Distribution from Navotas Philippines

Dress Distribution done in Navotas Philippines two weeks ago by Norie Bordador and a group of missionaries and volunteers who has decided it is time to go out and spread the word on hope, love, compassion and kindness to everyone. More pictures will be posted soon.

Feedback on Dress Distribution from Bohol Philippines

Dress distribution was done last Feb 25 in Bohol Philippines by Norie Bordador and group in the open grounds of the Cambigsi Elementary School. It was a day of fun and delight for almost 200 children who were so eager to receive new dresses according to Norie. They all loved their new dresses and for some whose parents were with them, they got teary-eyed seeing their kids getting new dresses. Here are some pictures from the distribution and am not really sure how they all managed to control the kids to have such an organized distribution. It was also the day where every kid got free lunch.

Dress Distribution #54 - Children of Malabon Manila (c-o Norie Bordador) Parcel 1C

This is the last parcel of 3 for the children of Malabon Manila which I hope to send as soon as I can as I hardly have a space to walk around in the garage (not good in case of emergency). It is a parcel of big-sized dresses I have accumulated in the last 18 months and finally I found a group who can distribute it on my behalf. These requires teens between the ages of 16 to 19 (including boys) and even perhaps 20 due to the size of the dresses and shorts. It has the less number of dresses and pairs of shorts but the most heavy box I have ever packed I had to sit down and catch my breath after it has been sealed. I think (except for a few)  this will be the last time I will accept these type of dresses as they are difficult to distribute and are quite heavy and bulky too. It is not that I do not appreciate everything that I receive but sometimes I also have to think of whether I am capable of packing or lifting the box when it is packed. Fortunately, this parcel will be picked up so I dont have to worry about lifting.

More Pictures from the CDO Philippines Christmas Bags Distribution (Dec 2013)

I think I have more pictures from the CDO Phils Christmas Bags Distribution Dec 2013. Unfortunately there is no visibility of which dresses are handed out as they are inside the Christmas bags and the bags are not transparent except for a few for the boys but still not very clear. Makes it more difficult for me to reconstruct which dresses, pairs of shorts and t-shirts donated were included in the 7 parcels. 

Just trust me that they have been distributed. I dont think it is an easy task to hand out bags to 200 children by an 80-year-old even with 5 assistants and on a rainy day. I was even surprised that they actually did the distribution on that day. Thanks.

Feedback from Dress Distribution by the RVM sisters - CDO Philippines (More pictures)

Here are more pictures from the dresses, books and school supplies distribution made in the Balulang Elementary School in CDO Philippines, an adopted elementary school by the RVM sisters who run Lourdes College, one of the best and pioneer school of CDO to give these kids a chance to get a decent education to prepare them for their future.

Dress Distribution #54 - Children of Malabon Manila (c-o Norie Bordador) Parcel 1a

I must have labelled the plastic bags with wrong months as I noticed while sorting that I have dresses received in the earlier months of the year 2013 and no longer have those received between May to August. Tsk...tsk..

Anyway, this is Parcel #1 of 3 for the Children of Malabon, Manila again c-o Norie Bordador. It is a parcel of 49 dresses, 18 sets of t-shirts and pairs of shorts, 22 headscarves and other hair accessories and 50 mini bags. The distribution which has been organized by Norie and with the help of other group of volunteers and with the assistance of Sr Ma Rosalina Luzon, the MCJ Coordinator will be made at Sto Nino Chapel and Mission Center in Malabon City. I think the two parcels that left over the weekend for Navotas will also be coordinated by Sr Ma Rosalina Luzon. I am just very lucky that I can find volunteers who can do distributions on my behalf and can really see that the dresses end up with the children in need. Makes my work very worthwhile although not easy as other people would think.
