Dress A Girl Australia Update

Now that April is finishing up and Dress A Girl Australia’s Easter charity drive is about to close off, I thought I would give everyone an update as to where Dress A Girl Australia is at for the first half of 2012. The response since January 2012 is so overwhelming (sometimes am at a loss for words) and unbelievable. Thank you so much to all the donors, supporters, facebook likers, blog readers, spreaders of the word of the Dress A Girl Around the world campaign. What started as an imagination of a world where every little girl owned at least one dress is slowly becoming a reality by making a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children…one dress at a time...

The following are scheduled for the first half of 2012. Two more locations have been added due to the number of dresses received. Dresses are allocated on a first-in first-out basis. Any dresses that will not make into any of these locations will be allocated for distribution in the second half of 2012 (sometime in Sept and Oct timeframe in time for Christmas). In between these months if I am able to find volunteers willing to handcarry some of our dresses, then a special distribution will be made.

1) Philippines (Ladies of Zonta International) – 50 dresses and 25 shorts between the sizes of 0 to 4. I am very confident that this group of business professional 'Mums' will be able to find and dress children between the ages of 6months to 4.
Target date of departure : FIrst week of May. Fully allocated and now closed

2) ECPAT Philippines – 22 dresses which could not be sent earlier together with the dress kits as sizes were not available.
Target date of departure : End of April. Fully allocated and now closed.

3) India – 30 dresses and 20 pairs of shorts
There has been a request to cut down the number of dresses for the children of India by the group who hopefully will be travelling and distributing the dresses
Target date of departure : Mid-May. Fully allocated and now closed.

4) Uganda – between  100-150 dresses
Target date of departure is early to mid-May to arrive in Uganda sometime end of  July-early August. Open.

5) Kenya – about 100 dresses
Target date of departure is early to mid-May to arrive in Kenya sometime end of July-early August. Open.

6) Papua New Guinea – waiting for confirmation.
Target date of departure is end of June. Open.

List of donors per location will be made available soon so for those who are sending dresses on behalf of a group, please include in your parcel a list of donors and if possible the number of dresses.

Also, just to let everyone know that I am now looking into the possibility of distributing dresses in Australia as planned in the second half of 2012.

Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for your continued support. If you require more information or want to know more about Dress A Girl Australia’s campaign, please send an email to dressagirlaustralia@gmail.com.
