Dress Distribution #61 - Children of Mbale Uganda Parcel 2A

Went to the postoffice this afternoon to send the first parcel of two for the children of Mbale Uganda. A total of 87 dresses and 13 pairs of shorts sent to Anne Wandendaya of the Bushikori Christian Centre.

Feedback of Dress Distribution from Mbale Uganda

As I keep on saying, Mondays am normally cranky but seeing these pictures in my mailbox at 6 in the morning, today is one of the best Mondays I ever had. These pictures were sent by Anne Wandendeya, the director of the Ministry in Mbale Uganda. 

 I feel like waving back from Australia to the girls in Mbale.

Dress Distribution #22 - Parcel for the children of Mbale East Uganda (Bushikori Christian Centre)

This parcel is long overdue. I had wanted to send it early December but then I thought maybe after Christmas would be ok so the chances of it missing in the posting is less especially that there are no insurances for parcels to Uganda. I lost a parcel in December and that was only here in Australia. I finally found the time to complete the packing and added t-shirts and undies I had received and collected during the Christmas season and finally the parcel is sent. 

Dress Distribution #22 is a parcel of 54 dresses for girls, 12 boys and 24 girls’ undies, 12 t-shirts for small boys and 1 small clothing for a baby and is going to the needy children of a community in  Mbale, Eastern Uganda care of the Bushikori  Christian Centre. The community is situated in a rural area and the Centre organises sponsorship of orphans and desperately needy children so that they can be educated and be employed. According to Lianne Foord who is a member of the of the Australian Support Committee, the children in their program often only own one item of clothing which is sometimes in poor condition. . Today I started sorting the second parcel which I intend to send mid-April.

This week's a little bit of this and a little bit of that

More busy days ahead especially with Christmas just around the corner. One more week of going to work and my Christmas break will start. Actually it is a forced christmas break. In addition to my usual holiday trips, I would have wanted to save extra days for a couple of Dress A Girl Australia trips I have planned for next year. I guess I will just have to go negative credits again. What to do!

The past week has been quite busy making more handmade items to sell to take advantage of the christmas season and gift-giving. I have done my lavender houses, just finished my Christmas stockings. One more item to make which is one of my favourites and make them throughout the year and that is the fabric postcards and that's it for Dress A Girl Australia. :-)

#1 - Thank you to Christie Sturre, Wrights family and S Mcintosh for the parcels I picked up from the postoffice this weekend. 

#2 - As mentioned earlier in the week, I will resume writing articles on dress distributions, parcels sent and donation acknowledgements week of Dec 17th. A lot on my list. :-)

The following are the parcels I have sent during the week : 

 - Two parcels containing 100 dresses were sent to The Pyjama Foundation for their children in foster care in Sydney NSW.

 - Christmas parcel containing school supplies, activity books, boys and girls' undies and 10 pairs of shorts collected from the Charity Auction for Dress A Girl Australia was sent to Annabelle Chauncy, a co-founder of the School for Life Foundation in Katuuso Uganda. 

- Two parcels containing dresses and pairs of shorts also sent to Mbale Uganda c/o the Bushikori Christian Centre for their sponsored orphans and needy children within the community.

#3 - Another parcel leaving for India next weekend for the Garden of life family once I have completed the sorting and the packing.

The 'make-it or break-it' Christmas charity drive is still going and will be until the end of Dec. Please create a mess of handmade dresses and pairs of shorts in Dress A Girl Australia's living room this Christmas. Dare to be different this Christmas. Thank You Wrapped in Fabric!!

My very special and heartfelt thank you to Sandy Bugg of Wrapped in Fabric for sponsoring the cost of sending the parcel I sent last July to Mt Hagen Papua New Guinea. Yes, last July!! I am that slow when it comes to admin work. But I am so thrilled !!!  Another box has been added to leave my humble abode again. In fact I now have three boxes scheduled to be posted before the month of September ends to three locations in Uganda. WooHoo!!

New Community on the List

The way things are going and I feel so excited about it, I think I will need more and more dresses.  I just want everyone to know that Dress A Girl Australia is very happy to support the orphans and desperately needy children being taken cared of by the Bushikori Christian Centre near Mbale in Eastern Uganda. Starting from today, these children will be included in the dress allocations and I hope to send my first parcel in September.

To Liane Foord of the Australian Support Committee , I will try my very best to make sure that the children in your area of responsibility gets to own at least one dress for each of them deserves to own one. Thank you for getting in touch with me.
