Giving Tuesday - 2nd of December 2014

Last night I wrote in my facebook page about 'giving tuesday' which is on the 2nd of December. 2014. Giving tuesday is a global movement to celebrate a day of giving to kick off the giving season.

I have joined the 'giving tuesday' movement and have come up with this idea on how to celebrate it with Dress A Girl Australia especially  for Christmas and since I think I have a lot of time to sew this weekend. My idea of 'giing tuesday' is dress sponsorship with the proceeds from the sponsorship to be donated to the Dress A Girl Australia well campaign to provide clean water and hope to the people of Kalagi Uganda. The money that I have raised selling handmade items intended for the Dress A Girl well I have used to pay for the cost of sending dresses to different locations for Christmas distribution so I believe it is just right and fair that the proceeds of these sponsorships should go back to the Dress A Girl well fund. That is hitting two birds with one stone to make this world a better place. A dress and a well.
I will be sewing dresses for the next 3 days and some of these dresses will be posted here and in my facebook page. For $10.00 you get to give a dress including an undie, a mini teddy bear, a hair tie, a magic slate for perhaps the little girl to write her dreams, one lolly and a button that says 'am special'.. These dresses will be distributed in slum areas in the Philippines on Christmas day and make a little girl feel special perhaps for the first time. A picture will be taken of the girl who receives a christmas bag and sometime after christmas or January, will be forwarded to the donor of the package. I have chosen the Philippines as the location as I have a parcel that still have lots of space that I can use. I have not reached the minimum weight but need to pay the minimum cost so I decided to add these gift bags anyway it is Christmas. All the items in the bag were personally purchased by me and the fabrics from my personal collection. So especially for those who do not sew but wants to help make a difference to the lives of the less fortunate, this is a good opportunity. Watch out for the dresses that will be posted in a special album and please help spread the word around. It is Christmas. Thank you.

New Dress A Girl Australia Christmas card on Sale for fundraising

Finally I have thought of another Dress A Girl Australia christmas card and this time with an image of a dress that we make to provide dresses for disadvantaged children around the world to give and share them love, happiness and hope especially this Christmas.
Dresses on the cards could be different on any of the cards from what is shown above as dresses on the cards are made of actual fabric from fabric scraps and/or remnants from dresses made so they could be any fabric. Left inside panel has the image of Dress A Girl Australia's 'i-dress' verb and the right side panel is blank for personalized message. Comes with a matching white envelope for easy gift-giving and/or mailing.
Regular price of card is $2.50. This Christmas the cards are on sale at $2.00 per card plus actual postage cost of $.70 which is included in the selling price.

For a pack of 10, regular pack sells for $25.00. This Christmas, the pack of 10 are on sale at $15.00 per pack plus actual postage cost of $3.50.

To purchase a single card, please click here. To purchase a pack of 10, please click here.

Please check them out and if you like them please make a purchase. Proceeds of $2.70 (less stamp of 70 cents) can pay for the cost of sending one dress anywhere in the world. Thank you and please help spread the word around.

Fundraising - Please help spread the word around!!!!

Please help spread the word around. For those who have not started their Christmas shopping yet, you may want to think about the items in my shops. They are all being sold to raise money and help disadvantaged children around the world. What better way to celebrate the season of giving by sharing it with these kids !!
I know a lot of you are handmakers but it would be great if you could also help spread the word about these handmade items to your friends and ask them to buy handmades and support small businesses especially those that make and sell to help disadvantaged kids around the world. It will be greatly appreciated.

All prices of items in my Dress A Girl Australia shop have been reduced for a desperate attempt to raise money for postage for more dresses to be distributed this Christmas. Click on the links below to view and if there is anything you like please make a purchase. -

More items are being added everyday so please drop by as often as you can especially before Christmas. Thank you.

What's Up and on Fundraising

Good Morning Ladies. I have been getting a lot of complaints about the max of 5 dresses per donor. Unfortunately this is all I am able to accommodate. To those ladies who have written that they are now moving on to another group who is willing to accept more than 5, I am happy for all of you to have found a more generous group. My heartfelt thanks for your support all this time. It is much appreciated. Thank you.

On the fundraising corner,
1) Craft Books and magazines will be posted for sale sometime this week to raise money for postage. These books are all new and used to be sold in a different website which I no longer maintain. I used to just give away a few of them to help other people raise funds but now that I need funds I will start selling them. They will all be sold at discounted prices just so I would make a sale. Working hard trying to raise funds is starting to take its toll but will try to post them as soon as possible. There are due dates to meet in sending parcels but if I cannot meet them, there is nothing much I can do. Thank you.

2) Normally all my handmade items are being sold to raise money for Dress A Girl Australia well but for the next 3 months, all proceeds from the sale of any items will be re-allocated to the Dress A Girl Australia's postage fund to help pay for the cost of sending dresses to a few locations around the world this Christmas.
To check out my handmade items for sale - please click on the link below -

Please drop by anytime. An item may catch your eye and please make a purchase. Proceeds from the sale of any item goes to Dress A Girl Australia's postage fund especially this Christmas. Thank you.

Dresses for Today - 6-Oct-2014 and more items for sale

Today, as usual I started early and did my sewing but could only find the time to post now. This morning I finished 3 dresses and 1 pair of shorts. I was thinking of making a t-shirt for the pair of shorts but if I did that my schedule for today would probably go disarray so decided not to. Maybe tonight if I still am apt to it. Here are the 3 dresses and the pair of shorts. I think if am not mistaken, the fabric material used for the dresses was donated by Sue-Ellen Cox sometime in 2013. Will not forget this particular material because it is pure batik.
Also, today I will be posting more handmade items I did the last few days. I will be posting my "i-wear because i-care" fabric bracelets for sale and my teddy bear series. Hopefully these items will attract more buyers. I can understand that most of the supporters of the Dress A Girl (Around the World) Australia are not interested in my handmade items but it will be nice if you can please help spread the word around on the handmade items that I sell as any proceeds from the sale will also benefit the campaigners. Perhaps instead of complaining why you can only donate 5 dresses if you could promote my products it will become more productive for all of us. Thank you.

Crowdfunding T-shirt Drive campaign to raise funds

I always wanted to sell t-shirts but was not ready to invest money on something that may not sell although I always believe that selling t-shirts would probably be a better option than selling wines. I did not think it was a good idea to have stocks and stocks of slow-moving inventory in my garage.  So I started searching the internet hoping that I would find a more flexible option and discovered Teespring.

Teespring allows to crowdfund customized t-shirts with zero hassle, zero upfront costs and zero risk. All I have to do is upload my art design, identify for how long the campaign is going to last (21 days is the longest) and start my campaign. If the goal is not reached after the campaign ends then there will be no charges made to those who have made reservations. If the goal is reached then the t-shirts ordered will be delivered within 14-21 days for international orders after the end of the campaign and shipping cost will be added. The shipping cost for international orders is $12.50 plus $4.00 for each additional t-shirt.

So here I am launching my first t-shirt drive campaign. The idea is to sell as many t-shirts as I can so I have priced the t-shirt as low as possible as it would allow me to and also to avoid tax implications. The selling price of $20.00 each plus shipping cost of $12.50 totalling $32.50 will be charged to you in US dollars so expect a higher amount when converted to Australian dollar. Probably about $36 Australian dollars at today's rate.

My goal is to sell a minimum of 50 t-shirts. I have selected 4 colours for my first t-shirt drive but the problem is each colour requires its own goal of 50 t-shirts to be sold but will see how it goes. The money I make from the sale of these 50 t-shirts will fund the cost of sending about 100 dresses to a location anywhere in the world. So I hope you would support me on this endeavour and help spread the word around. There will be more t-shirt drives with my own art design but for now this is it. The money you pay goes directly to Teespring and if this campaign is successful and the goal is reached, that is the only time that the net proceeds from the sale will be paid to me.

To reserve your t-shirt, here are the links to the t-shirt campaign drive - t-shirts are women's fit tee made of premium materials.

Or you can go straight to my teespring shop and make your choice from there -

The campaign starts today and will end on the 22nd of October. So please check them out and if you like a t-shirt to submit your reservation now. And do not forget to spread the word around. Thank you.

Thank you

I would like to say thank you so much to those handful of people who are helping spread the word about my handmadecards and other handmade items that I sell to raise money for postage including those papercrafting supplies from my personal collection that I have decided to sell as well and are selling. I actually know who you are. The sale may not be that much but if you add up all the one dollar and two dollar proceeds it can eventually pay for the cost of sending a box of 50 to 60 dresses to a few locations around the world.

More items from my personal collections will be put up for sale including fat quarters and quilt kits (unfortunately I have no more time to use or make them into something) to raise money for the Dress A Girl Australia well for Kalagi Uganda. I hope you will find the time to look into them and make a purchase if there is anything you would like. Proceeds go to a very worthwhile cause. Thank you so much.

Christmas cards for Fundraising.

Well, in case no one is aware my focus for the next few weeks is on finding measures on how to control or minimize the cost of running this campaign and how to raise funds to pay for the costs. Contrary to what people are saying, this is a self-funded charity work. I do all the tasks of finding the money to pay for the cost of running this campaign including the cost to send parcels all over the world in addition to making sure that those dresses get to where they are intended.

Christmas cards are now available for sale as early as September. Proceeds from the sale of these cards will go to the Dress A Girl Australia petty cash fund to pay for the cost of running the Dress A Girl Australia activities more particularly on the cost of sending dresses around the world. Every card sold can pay for a dress to be sent to Uganda, the Philippines, India or anywhere in the world. All these cards have been made by myself. To check them out, please click here or click on the image below -
If you are not into cards or you dont like my cards, you can still help make a difference by spreading the word around about my handmade cards. Thank you.

More Fabric Earth Cards for sale

Everyday, I would normally go for an hour's walk with my sister (except today as I was not feeling well). We go through an open field and pass through areas filled with trees.
Looking around the environment while walking I keep on thinking there must be something in the area that I can use to create something. It is an area full of trees and birds and dead twigs thus while walking we are actually connecting with nature...walking...loving the earth.
Inspired by the scenery and the possibilities of creativity, with an appliqued bird made of fabric scraps and re-purposed to an appliqued bird perched on top of dead twigs and leaf brads below it this Fabric Earth card - Connect with Nature - Bird was conceived and expect more to come. This card is now available for sale at my handmadecards for you online shop. Proceeds from the sale of this card will fund the cost of sending at least 3 dresses to 3 disadvantaged kids anywhere in the world.

To check it out, please click here. Some people may like it..some people won't but if it sells, it will fund a very worthwhile cause. So please help spread the word around about my handmade cards for sale.

New handmade cards for sale

Good Day everyone! Apple made a significant release of their products today so I thought I would do the same. Dress distributions would not be possible without the things I sell. Today am releasing new handmade Christmas cards and new earth cards for sale. Please check them out and if there is anything you like, please make a purchase. All proceeds go to Dress A Girl Australia's petty cash fund, If you don't like any of them, don't make a purchase but you still can help by spreading the word amongst your family and friends. They may like something and make a purchase. More items will be made available as they are completed. Quantities are limited at this stage.
These are some of my Badge Greeting cards and new ones for Christmas -
and here are my new Fabric Earth cards. I call them earth cards because the materials I used are from scraps which I repurposed -
If you are on the lookout for other greeting cards, check out my handmadecards for you site by clicking here.

I know most of you, if not all, are handmakers so you probably will not get attracted to what I sell but am sure you have friends around who would prefer to make a purchase. I worked hard making these items to make them unique so people would possibly buy so please help spread the word around. Unfortunately, money just don't get dropped out of the sky. One has to work hard for it so for those who feel offended that I am selling items, I am not going to apologize. Thank you.

New handmade cards for fundraising

Sometimes I kind of agree with what my friends say that sometimes I am weird and strange when it comes to creating things although in real life I am actually a funny person and always brings smiles or generate good-hearted laughs from them. Whatever people think of me does not matter. This is a free world...even when it comes to creating. The possibilities are endless limited only by my imagination and I want to show it to the world . I know when I am doing it right and when it is wrong.

I create, make my mind think of all the possibilities to make to sell and to help raise money and support my charity work. Some people start to doubt your charity work intentions when you start selling something but...this is what makes the world exciting. The challenges you encounter on your journey...to make a difference.

So here I am again...wearing my 'Soft Treasures' hat. My handmade business which I started 12 years ago to make a difference. Always looking for something new to create. Weird, strange, funny or unique handmade cards you possibly would not find anywhere else. Here are 2 of my latest creations which I am selling to raise funds for postage if needed or donate to my fundraising for a Dress A Girl Australia well for the people of Kalagi Uganda. Printed at home from my very old reliable printer.

1. Earth Cards. Am a great believer of saving and enjoying the earth so I made these cards as a way of showing how to do it.  'Love our Earth' handmade cards with charms that can be used and worn as necklace pendants. Everyday is earth day. Connect with nature, Breathe the Air, Go Ride a Bike, Repurpose, Replenish, Recycle, Craft and Imagine the possibilities, Give peace a chance. These are just a few of the selections I have thought about so you can enjoy the earth. The inside panel is a blank panel for your personal message. These cards sell for $3.25 each. Check them out here or click on the image below -
2. Maze Puzzle cards. Can you imagine what a headache it was trying to come up with a maze and a puzzle and a solution? LOL! but had a great time. Will make great children's party favours. With crayons, you can colour and make your own personal work of art. Instructions can be found in the inside panel of the card to solve the maze and/or puzzle. These cards sell for $2.75 each. Check them out here or click on the image below -
These cards make wonderful keepsakes. Are small treasures to keep. And don't forget that for every sale from any of these cards, you are making this world a better place for disadvantaged people. If you do not like them, you do not have to buy them but you can still help by spreading the word around about these cards. Am sure there is someone out there who would like to have one but just don't know where to find it. So please help spread the word around.....it is for a very worthwhile cause. Nothing goes to my pocket...they all go to my charity tin can.
